February 7, 2024 - 2010 Barolos at Terra Rossa with NLWTS (Terra Rossa, Upper Street): Darker nose than others… cassis?! Very sweet, pretty opulent. Super pronounced nose. Very generous… but not exactly textbook barolo - slightly on steroids! Really fun (and tasty) regardless of any atypicality.

February 7, 2024 - 2010 Barolo (Terra Rossa, N1): This wine sparked the thought that we need to have a genuinely middle of the road wine at these tastings just to remind ourselves how good everything else is. Because this - which on another night would have given a lot of pleasure - suffered by comparison.
Savoury and beefy with notes of soy and red plum, shiso and a touch of rubber. Sweet and velvety on the palate with a fine grip at the end and latent power which sustains a long finish. Very pleasant but lacks poise.2 people found this helpful Comment -

November 28, 2023 - Pretty nice, classic Barolo with all what that means. Pretty acidic and still a bit of bite. Good now but also has a few more years to mellow.

November 20, 2023 - 100% Nebbiolo. The grapes are sourced from Serralunga d’Alba (Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie), and Novello (Ravera). Vinification takes place in stainless steel with a 25-30 day maceration. It’s aged 30 months in large French oak botti with a bit of barriques.
Typical nose of rose and smokey tar. Some zest. Some sign of age in the color although Nebbiolo after a few years tends to look orange, brickish. Some citrus, orange peel. Starting to get secondary and tertiary notes too. Some spice and mushroom. A little warm on the backend. Still feels like it needs to integrate a little more. Others wanted more fruit and had a hard time identifying where this was from, so maybe it's an awkward stage or is past its prime a bit. My guess is the former given the producer, region, vintage and variety. Maybe it’s a little darker than some with a little more oak influence, and the tannins have rounded out, but it’s still Piedmont Nebbiolo to me. 91+
