April 17, 2018 - absolutely wonderful from the first glass. expressive nose - pencil shavings, fresh winery and a slight cut spinach / very mild green aroma. light/med body, ample but not obtrusive acid, enough tannin to remind you of the cab family...

if I close my eyes and think "light-bodied cab franc, excellent with food, easy, yet balanced structure" - and from the new world - this is exactly the wine I conjure.

February 4, 2017 - Nice quite classic Cabernet franc nose, with that green pepper hint. Quite forward and fruity but still elegant and silky texture that makes this go down very easily. Ready to drink. The only thing that detracts is that the sour-sweet finish feels just a little too much amped up. But that is a finer point. Overall this is just excellent and blind I would probably have ended up in Loire rather than Napa, although the sweet fruit is a give away once you know what it is.

May 2, 2015 - 2012 was a lush, fruit-forward year in Napa Valley. Matthaisson wines, even the reds exhibit lower alcohol than is typical in the region, in this case 12.5% and are more delicate. The 2012 Cabernet Franc was 50% whole cluster fermented and has feminine aromatics of rose petals, red berries, incense and Saigon cinnamon. Medium-bodied yet weightless, with softly structured tannins, moderate acidity and an inviting inner-sweetness at the core, this is a wine I'd love to revisit. Sample
