April 10, 2021 - 2.5 hrs decant. Rusty medium dark red. Bit of barnyard and red currant nose. Still plenty of tannins, even though CT drink-by date was 2 years ago. And, nicely balanced with just the right acidic energy. Cherry syrup, red currant, white pepper, aged leather. Long delicious spicy finish. Alcohol heat but doesn’t negatively impact the drinking experience.
Over the evening while opening in the decanter, this wine continues to come into its own and not be flat at all.
I’m surprised how much I like this given its modest CT grades. Wish I had more in the cellar. -
