March 5, 2024 - Jason & Simon's Village Burgundy Tasting Dinner (67 Pall Mall): Deep yellow colour - v noticeable when compared to its flightmate. S mentioned that the last bottle he'd had was better on day 2, and I can see it with this wine. Left some in the glass until the end of the meal and it did perk up.

March 4, 2024 - Village Burgundy from Good Producers (67 Pall M): There is some buttery Mintoe to the nose here and some suggestion of torn tarragon leaf but there is something not right. Some cinders and green banana. Hoping that air will bring it round but no improvement really after nearly 4 hours in the glass. Shame one senses a lovely wine underneath.

March 4, 2024 - Jason's Village Burgundies II (67 Pall Mall): Medium yellow, striking darker than the Leflaive alongside. Muted on the nose at first, it then becomes a bit yeasty. Rich, round, some baked apple, but this is flirting with oxidisation, an advanced bottle past peak that doesn't really appeal alongside the P-M.

March 4, 2024 - Village Burgundy: Light mid to old gold. Gives the impression of being quite evolved. Rich nose, a touch of aldehyde but mainly about the beurre noisette initially. Rich and chewy in an almost visceral style. Similar to previous bottles but not given the chance to clean up and open up. Should have opened yesterday, but ultimately the wrong bottle for the occasion. ** only on the night.

March 3, 2024 - Burgs, Birds, and Black Truffles (My place, Portland OR): This took about a half hour to open up. It was really lovely once it opened up with a refined sense to the tones of toast, nutmeg, red apples, bosc pears, quince, vanilla beans, navel oranges, and some marmalade. This had a light gold color and certainly didn't look like it would be hitting year 12 later this year. The Medium bodied feel has a bit of fatness, but with some real good texture along with tart, medium+ acidity. The acidity is mouthwatering and integrated that really provides some backbone. This is just lovely. It's that simple. While this bottle had plenty of life ahead of it, it would also be a shame not to enjoy it now as it's firing on all cylinders.
