August 23, 2015 - This was my last bottle from a small but delightful '01 stash of 2x each of "L", "B" and "R" and also the least satisfactory. Colour was deep but with no oxidation. Nose was complex with white fruit, especially apricot, spice, petrol marked minerals and iodine infused botrytis notes. The palate seemed almost sweet on entry and mid-palate with more rich apricot type fruit and burnished undertow but it lacked the superb balance of "L" and "B" missing their beautifully fresh acidity. There was to boot a certain dryness kicking in on the finish which suggests the downward slope. Nevertheless a fascinating wine.

June 7, 2012 - Heymann-Löwenstein tasting (AuZone, Stockholm): Golden colour. In the nose some dried fruit, perhaps a hint of botrytis?, honey, spicy and slightly smokey, some petrol, heather honey. Complex and obviously mature notes. Quite concentrated on the palate, try, cool and minty in the attack, spicy, with notes of baked apples, high acidity, long aftertaste with mineral, slight bitterness. Mature in a positive sense, could probably take some more years in the cellar.
A good example of a powerful dry Riesling that has mature aromas but also fine acidity and minerality. Compared to Röttgen 2001, I thought that it was more balanced, and should have a longer life ahead of it, since it still shows mineral and cool character, and that the alcohol and bitterness hasn’t come through as they have in the Röttgen 2001. -

April 20, 2010 - Deep golden color. Shimmering acidity and tons of slatey/petrolly minerality. Rich in body and showing some indications of buttery botrytis. Mango, cinnamon and tangerine fruit is almost overwhelmed by the wine's intense minerality and head-spinning acidity. A very fine avant-garde "dry" riesling.
