  December 15, 2018 - Opened with some antipast while cooking dinner. Can't emphasize how food friendly this is- roasted red peppers, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, salami, prosciutto, bread & olive oil (also dipped into the red sauce while simmering, for quality control purposes), this wine complemented them all. Notes consistent from 12/11/18 entry, B+ (88) on style & quality but a solid A (95) on the value, overall evaluation A- (90).

  December 11, 2018 - Aged, has some bricking, but a very nice black cherry aroma and a rustic, acetic edge to compliment the leathery tannins. Very food friendly, went from a lasagna with meat sauce to a slice of limoncello cake more seamlessly than I would have expected. $24 / bottle at Wakefield Wine Cellar in Wake Forest, and was 20% off to boot. A (95) as a restaurant bottle purchase, picked up the last bottle they had for myself!

  July 19, 2015 - ripe rich nose, dark cherries, leather, - even a bit jammy
  Rich palate too, even a bit medicinal
  Some tannin and leather. Finish a bit dusty
  Bold, rustic and not terribly suble, just the thing with spaghetti and meatballs
