September 29, 2023 - Medium dark red color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 75 minutes at our picnic lunch. We don't drink the Freedom Hill very often, and this was my first of two from 2012. This really wasn't the best format for drinking it, but hey its a picnic and we can't control the weather either. This seemed to open over 30 minutes and was more expressive. It was only 60 degrees out so it was a bit chille. Dark fruits, more to blackberry and black cherry, not big necessarily, but there is some concentration, dusty tannins, and a good spice block on the finish that was nice. Showing pretty well, I'm not in a hurry to drink my other one.

August 19, 2022 - Pop and pour, followed half the bottle over 2 hours. The nose is floral with great concentration. The palate is darker than I expect from St. Innocent, almost reminiscent of a California pinot. While there's a lot of charm here, I'm starting to see how hot vintages in Oregon don't show or age that well, although they are extolled by critics and the industry.

July 14, 2022 - Bright cherry red in color. Spicy, cherry nose. Bright on the palate with cherries, strawberries and a bit of anise. Smooth tannins, nice acidity and balance. Perhaps a touch hot (the ABV is 14.5% if you're interested). Finishes long and spicy. Nice. Fades with 30 minutes of air. I'd drink over the next 2 years or so before the heat becomes more evident.

April 23, 2022 - Plenty of big black berries on nose and palate with a rich start, then a softer, less complete middle, but ending big once again. Seems slightly warm on finish, so I'd err on drinking these while still nicely fresh, through 2027, vs cellaring longer. Very good value wine.
