December 25, 2023 - The wine was decanted off its sediment and aired for an hour before being returned to its bottle for serving.

Eye: Deep red center to a medium ruby rim. It shows almost no signs of bricking.

Nose: Meat and plums. Rich spices and saffron. Herbs and soy. Cacao nibs. Smoke and Muenster.

Palate: Red berries are followed by a wave of rich smoke. Cherries and strawberries. (On the second day these tart red berry notes were greatly accentuated). Spicy smoked meat. Loads of soy, mushroom, and earth. The wine is still pleasantly tart, and the tannins are very soft.

Finish: Long. Strawberries, cherries, smoke, and meat.

Overall: This is tied for the most well aged red wine I’ve tried so far. Though present, the fruit flavors have taken a back seat to the tertiary notes. It paired very nicely with some Broccoli-Beef.

November 15, 2023 - Now that it has some years, it is getting the iodine and meaty notes that make its cousins from the Northern Rhone wines such a treat. This is not even close to being at its peak.

September 18, 2021 - A lovely expression of Central Coast grown Syrah from winemaker Matt Dees. Its my first encounter with his work, look forward to many more across the spectrum. Great value. Ready to drink. Highly rated by Dunnuck.
