December 25, 2023 - Bought this in 1980, and Graham's 70 in 1982. Enough to last me out, i reckoned. 43 years later, 12 bottles left. Judged it reasonably well.... But, goodness me the Fonseca has taken a long time to settle down. It was fiery stewed tea for years. Now, at last, it is really relaxed and a very tasty glass - at 53 years old! Strange wine indeed.

October 27, 2023 - Beside the 63 and 77 this came across as a bit of a bruiser. Nothing subtle. Might go on a long time but this bottle at least didn't give the impression it would gain complexity like the others. On its own, it would have impressed nonetheless.

May 18, 2023 - Top Mid-Aged Bordeaux ("Chateau La Grange" - La Grange IL): I haven't had this wine in nearly 20 years, and tonight it was frankly disappointing. More firm than I hoped/ expected, but there is a fine core of rich black fruit. No rush to drink up.

May 18, 2023 - Some Bordeaux (Chicago, IL): Very high alcohol on the nose. Not very balanced, with a very odd herbal note. The spirit sticks out too much, and the fruit is too thin.
