Community Tasting Notes 20

April 29, 2024 - Second tasting of this vintage with last note back in 2018. This wine has evolved nicely and is a much better expression of a mature St Joseph. Wonderful nose and a smooth finish with integrated tannin. Decanted for one hour. However, if I had to do it again, I would’ve just popped and poured. It was more vibrant straight out of the bottle.

December 8, 2023 - Un peu court à mon goût.

July 8, 2023 - Sublime après 2h en carafe. Fin soyeux tout en étant dense et complexe. Fruits noirs et viandeux. Long en bouche, tannins fins et acidité med+

April 28, 2023 - Not quite ready. Was good but needs a few years more… I think another 5 minimum.

March 27, 2023 - Popped and poured. Very dark red, with just a tinge of brown. Viscous. Bright red fruit aromas, strawberry mostly. Smooth as glass in the mouth. More earthy than fruit, at least right off the bat. Very dry. Slightly bitter, too. Judgment reserved til this has had some time to air.

Next day: Still pretty hard and relatively charmless. Still rustic. Seems to have the fruit to age much longer, and perhaps that is all it needs. Right now, it comes across as old-style and even a bit savage. Right now, for me: 5-11-16-8: 90/100.
