December 22, 2022 - Tannins still holding but in a good way. Nice nose still can get a little alcohol on the nose. Nice blackberry and Cassis on the forward pallet smooth on the back with a little bit of tannin still intact.
Enjoyed w a filet and the last bottle.

May 19, 2018 - It’s been six years since I first enjoyed this. I first had this in a restaurant, and bought it on sale in 2016. I also enjoyed the 2006 Alexis. I’m a huge fan of the Oakville AVA, so this hits my sweet spot of interest.

Decanted and enjoyed with a grilled ribeye steak. Clear, with slight signs of bricking, displaying a deep ruby color. The initial impression prior to decanting was lots of smoked, cooked, meats, indicating lots of tertiary development. Developing aromatics. After an hour in the decanter, this settled down and started showing medium aromas of classic ripe blackberry, black cherry, and black plum with mocha, cedar oak, smoke, meatiness, charred earth, leather and black coffee. Medium plus palate mimics the aromatics with the fruit, leather, and coffee showing dryness and some austerity, typical of Oakville. Full bodied and high alcohol; however, both high, fine grained tannins and high acidity provide balance. Very light g finish which supports the food. Outstanding wine showing developing complexity, concentration, long length and wonderful balance. Lots of life ahead for this!

September 12, 2017 - I believe it is a cab merlot mix. Not concentrated. Smooth Fruit with slightly high acid finish. Did not get opportunity to decant.

April 29, 2017 - Dark, opaque. Deep purple kind of Cali Cab. Modern, not sure it adjusts with age much. Might be down phase. Quiet nose. Some cocoa black fruit palate. Medium finish.

February 8, 2015 - Beautifully smooth and ready to drink within the next year, the Swanson 07 exhibits lush dark fruit, cocoa, and lavender. I found the tannin to be present but well integrated, and the finish silky smooth. Great year for a great wine, more sexy and smooth than other years, but great to drink particularly on its own or with unoffensive filet or strip steak.
