March 21, 2022 - Purple. Slight acidic and still fruit forward. More mid palate than other cabs. Don’t think it’ll get better with time. Pop and pour ready.

December 29, 2018 - I was disappointed with this wine. Full of ripe jammy fruit. Similar to Caymus Special Selection where there is a suspicious hint of pressed juice almost. No tannins, no acid, no earthiness, the fruit was overwhelming. No complexity.

I can see how new wine drinkers would find this enjoyable, but this was a bit boring and can taste like fermented Welch juice..

April 7, 2017 - 90 min. decant. Dark, seems to include some pressed juice. Not a fan of young wines with petit verdot blenders.....just not my thing. Everyone else loved this. Reminded me of Bevan Ontogeny. Take my score with grains of salt. Good for what it is, but not my thing.

December 15, 2016 - Following the golden rule of never drinking a bad glass/bottle of wine, we opened the Gemstone cab after being disappointed with another producer's 2011 cab. We made the right decision. This Gemstone has plenty of life left yet it is drinking very nicely now - nice nose, lots of fruit and soft tannins. A 45 minute airing was sufficient to let the wine open nicely. We look forward to drinking our remaining bottles over the next 6 to 8 years.
