June 4, 2023 - Drank from a friends allocation. 2 hour decant. Much more open than when we drank together in 2016 and in the heart of the drinking window with at least another decade to go. Ate with a steak, definitely steakhouse wine

March 30, 2023 - Fantastic wine. Tannins full resolved, an intoxicating bouquet and long finish. Can’t see it getting any better but glad I held this long.

March 5, 2023 - Ruby red in color. This is still a very young wine. Acidity and abv heat a touch out of balance but not overly so. Aromas of plum, black and blue berries, oak spices, tobacco. I'd peg this maybe a point behind the 2013 I had last year. Still love these wines. Many compare to Scarecrow given proximity, but for me this falls firmly between Tin Man and Scarecrow. Which is fantastic for QPR.

January 16, 2023 - Tasted blind among other 2012s (Lokoya, Cardinale, Opus, Blankiet, Quintessa, Hobbs). Tied for #1 (w/ Lokoya). WHere others seeemed more one-note, the Greer was more evolved, multi-demensional. Just enough age to make it seem like it was firing on all cylinders.

January 14, 2023 - 1 hr air. Well I read through other notes before opening this just to make sure I was not making a big mistake in terms of timing. Is this “blueberry milkshake” “fungible Napa” crap or is it a “ballerina”? Sadly, closer to the former, although @Acyso’s hilariously brutal takedown is unfair. This is not bad, but it is stereotype of Napa: dark, turgid, the taste equivalent of a “wall of sound.” Monolithic until near the very end of the bottle, when it finally started to lighten up and show some delineation between the black cherry, tar, and the oak and tannins. That said, there was also some jarring heat-induced meaty Mourvedre-like notes as well as some plum/fruitcake Syrah elements. No, it doesn’t taste like a Rhone - it tastes like a weird hybrid of a cab and a GSM. And yes there is a ton of “Rutherford dust” as another TN put it. It’s a definite and heavy style, not really aligned with my palate although others might enjoy the Phil Spector aspects of it more. At the elevated price, not for me.
Score: 90. Relative to expectations: -
