November 2, 2012 - S&E Wine Club Blind Tasting (Great Falls, VA): Tasted blind; had been decanted 3 hours. Bright red fruit on the nose. Slightly sweet in the mouth, implying the faintest bit of oak still showing. Really delicious.

November 2, 2012 - S&E Wine Club - Mixed vertical and horizontal tasting: This is the way I would hope Alto cab tastes after 14 years of cellaring. Light clean chalk and smooth soft tannins. I would not let it go too much longer as it may begin softening too much. Drink up now.

May 1, 2011 - Great aroma and bouquet - what I expect from a higher end South African Cab. Clean dust and chalkiness - Light acid finish brings score down otherwise would be in the early 90s. Smooth tannins - still moderate and very drinkable - would drink this a lot with cheeses.

September 30, 2008 - Straight from the bottle so will retaste in a few hours. Very good bouquet, earthy and dusty.
