June 2, 2015 - Ruby color with lighter orange rim. Nose: dried red & black cherry, sweet red plum, dried redcurrant, and strawberry with accents of sumac, black tea, sage, mulling spices, star anise, toasted hazelnut, old leather, and toasted black fig. Medium body on the palate: dried cherry/redcurrant/cranberry, strawberry, red plum, and black raspberry framed by mulling spices, black tea, sumac, red rose tea, blood orange zest, star anise, pink peppercorn, and a hint of white chocolate. Bright acidity. Moderate/lighter tannins. Lingering cherry/redcurrant/plum skin, mulling spices, pink peppercorn, and red rose tea on the moderate/long finish. A complex, sophisticated, and distinctly SCM Pinot that has aged beautifully. Pair with grilled salmon, duck, deep fried turkey, black bean chilli, pork belly, or a wide variety of cheeses. Drink over the next 2 years.
