March 30, 2023 - Really in great place in terms of maturity. I'm not sure if it has enough stuffing to evolve. If it was a tad more complex with more developed secondary notes, would have kicked it to 94+. But at $100, not bad considering current prices.

January 21, 2023 - More on the dark fruited side with nice aging and herbal notes. Nice fresh acidity. Powerful but not overdone. Good fruit structure and complexity. Quite harmonious and refreshing. Very nice overall balance. Drink now until 2030. (IG)

    August 6, 2022 - Deep Ruby

    High Acidity
    High Tannin
    High Alcohol
    Full Bodied
    Long Finish

    Medium (+) Intensity
    - Black Plum, Black Cherry, Blueberry, Liquorice, Smoke, Coffee, Green Bell Pepper, Mushroom, Soy sauce, Cured Meat

On the nose it's very nice, you get the ripe and sweet black fruits, cedar, roasted bell peppers and lots of tertiary notes. However, on the palate the herbaceous notes are just too overwhelming, I have had Chilean wine, I like Chilean wine, I know most of them are herbaceous, but this is just too much for me, makes the whole wine astringent and masked the fruit. Yes it got intensity, complexity and length, but it's just unbalanced. I get the controversy of this wine, or at least this vintage, especially when you look at the price tag. While some wine critics gave this wine a high rating, it's just not my thing.

March 20, 2021 - Similar to the 2013, but greener: I get coffee, mushroom pizza, iron, and sweet corn. For all the unusual notes, it actually holds together surprisingly well. But like an earlier taster said, it's not really sure what it wants to be or where it wants to be from. If I had tasted this blind, I would've had no idea that it's primarily Cabernet. I'll have to start passing on these at this price. They're decent, but decent doesn't cut it with so many other options.

February 9, 2021 - Had a bottle of 2012 this week, decanted and drank over 2-3 hours .. it’s powerful with typical almaviva flavours yet some spiciness in nose and taste. Tannins getting rounder and better built in. Nice and long finish. Over time , the wine is getting softer and spice notes rescind somewhat. It also gets more velvety and rounder. Overall nice vintage but I would think it isn’t worth the price at this stage. It might still get better over the next 2-3 years so I will not touch them until 2023 and try again. Somewhat disappointed but hopefully improves and it is just a closer phase at this stage. I think it has potential for maybe 93-94 but not more.
