July 25, 2023 - Two tastings over 3 days. Both enjoyable. This TN is after 2 days pumped and chilled.Cherries and plums on the nose with hints of earth or cedar. On the palate the fruits are similar but w more bramble, nice jammyness. More earth and cedar and lovely smooth tannins providing a long finish. Love it ! Makes me contemplate why I don’t buy more CF as it is nearly always enjoyable and so rarely disappointing while i can’t say that abt many other varietals or blends. This will outlast drinking window.

March 18, 2022 - drinking at peak I would say, but no hurry, will likely drink well for 5+ more years. really quite nice.

September 28, 2021 - Really enjoyed this wine. Full bodied and smooth. No green pepper notes that can detract from a Cab Franc. Minimal signs of ageing so this wine might last at peak through the suggested 2022 drinking window. I have enjoyed all of the wines that I have purchased from Burrowing Owl and need to get more in my cellar.

December 19, 2020 - Last bottle two years ago. Noted then that the wine was still tight. This bottle was much more open. Still very dark, almost black with no signs of age. Still a big wine and a bit tight. Lots of fruit with some green notes. Went well with grilled rack of lamb. This wine would still benefit from some time in the decanter and I don't think there is a big rush to drink up. The 2022 drinking window is reasonable and this wine might last to 2023 or 2024 at peak.

Community Recommendations

An excellent complement to a tomato based meat dish such as Osso Bucco or try with braised lamb shanks drizzled with a black olive wine sauce.
