January 5, 2019 - Very tropical. Give it air. Decent.

May 17, 2017 - Continuing our Chardonnay dinner tour with our friend Pamela Z, this was my first full bottle of Saxon Brown Chardonnay, and it was great. Very big and bold fruit flavors of pear and pineapple, with some almond nuts and with lots of oak notes on the finish, too. I thought Jen might not like it, due to the oak, but Jen loved it, too.

We paired this with grilled Atlantic halibut, Scottish salmon, and some grilled herbal chicken plus wild rice in chicken broth. I thought it worked with everything but was a little too oaky for the halibut and perhaps best with the chicken. It was also good with the pineapple in our fruit compote but not the mango.

We paid $26 on close-out. It is about $40 retail and worth the tariff to me. Too bad that was our only bottle. Drink now but has time (despite the "weaker" vintage).
