October 14, 2023 - High expectations for this one. Always cool to have a wine made by Gaja and this did not disappoint. Two hour decant before climbing in. Medium-bodied with hints of cherry, leather and mushroom. Was magnificent with beef short ribs. Drink now and over the next 5 years. Cheers!

May 7, 2023 - Light garnet with a bricking rim. An intensely perfumed nose with dried red rose petals, wild strawberry, tar and a hint of oak spice. Lovely penetration on the palate with a succulent mid-palate set against a piercing acidity. There is some oak in the background with flavours of liquorice, red cherry, aniseed and star anise. Medium-bodied, this is an expressive and deep wine with plenty of fine-grained tannins and a wonderfully long, rich finish. Closes with floral red flowers and a liquorice edge.

November 1, 2022 - Opened just few seconds before drinking. Dark color with brillant rims. More about Gaja than Barolo, it has a well integrated wood with an healthy and young red fruit notes. Licorice and burnt sugar. Acidity grip, nice and fine tannins. If you have some more bottles keep it, this will last another 10 years or so.

September 13, 2022 - Opened and decanted for 2+ hours before we sat for dinner. Sumptuous red cherry fruit by the bushel with a fine streak of acidity and medium/medium-plus tannins. Was still opening up after almost 3 and a half hours in the decanter. Other reviewers have noted that this may have peaked but that certainly was not the case in this instance. Still has great concentration, structure, and freshness.

June 26, 2021 - Restrained nose of red fruit, light strawberry. Vegetal on entry, acidic and structured across the palate revealing tar and some high-toned fruit. Less Barolo in profile than a moderate Bordeaux cru bourgeoisie. I found this hard as nails after a moderate decant. There is fruit yet be revealed, decant could have been longer and I’ll wait several years for the next one. I’m not holding my breath though — this is respectably built but lacks excitement. There are better comparable 2010s out there (stored properly in temperature-controlled cellar).
