August 11, 2023 - Bedrock syrahs at Bazaar Meat (Chicago, IL): Didn't like this one very much -- of all the syrahs tonight this actually felt the most roasted and even slightly pruney. Sweet and modestly raisinated fruit, despite initially some impressive ripe-vintage syrah aromatics on the nose. Quite tannic and large-scaled, but as far as a demonstration of the acid-removing power of stems, I feel that they have sucked the acid out of here, leaving this slightly clumsy.

May 8, 2023 - River School Auction Tasting (Washington DC): Incredible, deep fruited and clearly the "La Landonne" look-alike with a fairly burly and rich Syrah nose. The meat and smoke was there, with less white pepper. Wonderful length. This impressed.

    March 15, 2023 - Maybe a little shut down. Didn’t show much.

November 22, 2022 - Served blind. This reminded me of a young Edmunds st John - which, to me, always shows super primary and grapey and is so tightly wound it doesn’t show what it can be. I have a feeling this can be a beauty in 10 years but right now is shut down, in evolved and just not ready - ar least I hope. Drink this in 2030 decade and hopefully it will be a dead ringer for an aged cornas

March 15, 2021 - Very much Cote-Rotie, and not all that dissimilar to a Guigal. The wood is largely subsumed. The palate weight is moderate and not heavy. Dark purple Syrah fruit still dominate, but there are ample savory tones of pepper and a touch of grilled meat. I always worried these would come off overblown, especially given the high ratings. They are not.
