Community Tasting Notes 17

September 22, 2018 - Reddish brown in color with candied nose of cherries and spice. On the palate this is hanging on....but barely. Baked red fruits, cherry jolly ranchers, and a short bitter finish. A surprising splash of acidity keeps this enjoyable enough to finish the glass, but it's definitely not getting any better.....and probably never that great to begin with. If Thomas Rivers Brown had a trophy room for the wines he's made, I'm pretty sure this one would not make the cut.

Side note....I'm sure many will not....but I actually dig the funky bottle.

November 20, 2017 - Drinking WAY better than I figured it would. Candied cherries and rhubarb on the nose and palate with a slight hint of baking spice. Not gone (which I thought it might be), but drink up soon if you have any while it's still offering some pleasure.

November 23, 2012 - Thanksgiving Day red. Pretty good

August 5, 2012 - Given Florida climes and despite room temp storage since purchase, this was still fine, though in the initial steps of decline. P&P and bottle left open about 3 hours before we got to it. Color dark red with some purple hues, medium-plus body, significant sediment left in the bottle. Bouquet and flavors of blackberries, some of them wild, leather, very ripe black cherries, cinnamon and spice, bits of prune. Initial sips showed the 15.5 alcohol, but soon dissipated. Excellent depth of fruit. Low acid, sweet velvety tannins lend just a bit of grip and suggest this had more structure in younger days. Medium-plus finish. Quite enjoyable, and this bottle was beyond ready to drink. Drank at Patty & Rob's so I don't know what they paid, but this was certainly high excellent owing to the quality of fruit.

June 4, 2011 - Bit of cherry and strawberry on the nose. Same on the palate but more restrained. A little candied. Fairly smooth and well integrated for a Zin. Nice to drink but no wow factor.
