December 26, 2020 - Colour: walnut brown
Nose: rose petal and rosewater evident on first opening. Muscatel raisins, soaked in rum. Some rancio character. Dried figs. Sweet spice.
Palate: muscatel grapes, dried figs. Rose petals? Walnuts. Rancio character. Unctuous, sweet, mouthfeel quite glycerolic and luscious. Moderate acidity, just enough to keep it fresh enough to support the sweetness. As Jancis Robinson suggested, good with chocolate—esp bitter dark chocolate I think. Whittaker’s 86% Ghana cocoa chocolate is a good match. Seal: screwcap.
