May 4, 2020 - A frightening deep gold but, blessedly, fresh and clean. Rich orchard fruit, mushroom, and oak-derived spice. The oak is not subtle but it balances nicely with the bold Bâtard fruit. Full bodied with intense spiced pear flavors, good acidic cut, good concentration. Very good today. Drink now through 2030+.

July 15, 2017 - I have been drinking Gagnard's white wines for years and consider him one of the better producers in Cotes de Beaune. My rating is conservative and based on current expression. I expect this wine to develop further and could merit a higher rating in 5-8 years. At the present time, the oak presence is a little too strong. time will tell if there's sufficient concentration and richness to match this oak level... There are certainly lovely sides to this wine with ripe fruit, minerality and good acidity, but the balance remains in question...

    March 17, 2016 - 2013 Batard-Montrachet : Jean Noel Gagnard

I decant a half into decanter and it opens up very beautiful. Hints of sweetness of the vintage 2013, well round and delicious, medium body yet elegant with a hidden power in its aftertaste, long finish.

This is a very lovely Batard-Montrachet indeed.
    Love it !!!

    93-95/100
