May 30, 2023 - Last noted 4/15 and have enjoyed probably a half case between then and now. Those who know me know I like this aged; this is the last bottle in the cellar.
Color/App: young appearance -- medium-deep yellow core with gold tints; medium viscosity. Aged bouquet of citrus -- especially lemon, grapefruit, strong notes of marzipan and (JVPhoto nailed this) some autolytic Champagne notes of brioche/bread dough. Full bodied palate resembling a mature white Burgundy (Meursault? Puligny?) with marzipan again, lemon/lime zest, golden apples, pears and golden raisins. Acidity is pretty much where it should be and provides a nice punctuation to the fairly long finish. For those who like their Melon de Bourgogne (what ampelography has determined the grape actually is -- not Pinot Blanc) aged and fuller-bodied than the French version. 91-92 with an extra point given for age.... -

April 19, 2019 - Light-medium gold. Rich aromatics - poached pear, candy apple, lemon zest and even a champagne like nutty brioche. Medium+ burst of acidity that fairly quickly disipates but wraps around kumquat, lemon merriunge pie, salt water taffy & brandied apples. Dry but with a touch of sweetness on the finish.

April 29, 2015 - 8424 bottles produced; 13.5% alc.
Probably the youngest Chalone Pinot Blanc I have ever enjoyed.
Color: Light yellow, especially for a Chalone PB. Opened, poured a glass and let sit on the counter for 30-45 minutes. Developed nicely over time as it warmed; bouquet of citrus -- pineapple, lemon and grapefruit along with a little hazelnut and a touch (even at this young age) of toffee. Full bodied palate of wet stone, grapefruit, citrus and oak. Almost sweet on the attack, this finishes long and dry as it should. Put this one away for a few years and I think it will be stunning.2 people found this helpful Comment
