July 8, 2017 - Dark brick red. Cork held up, but it was close, tracking up to about 3 mm of the edge. Decanted and enjoyed over several hours. It did clearly evolve and improve. The initial earthiness and sulfur did need to blow off. Some plum and raisen aspects that where present at one hour later diminished. Consistently on the nose was tobacco , leather, and mushrooms. At different times there was dark chocolate , leather, orange peel, black cherry flavors , and a nice tartness throughout. Drank with grilled lamb chops. Marvelous pairing. This waited a long time in the cellar but did really shine tonight . Was purchased in 1991 I think. My only bottle.

April 24, 2016 - Great wine for the premier of Game of Thrones season 6. Fabulous tobacco and tar notes, with dense fruit, terrific balance, and fabulous nose. A bit short on the finish.

June 4, 2015 - Fully mature - a bit surprising for an 89. Dark plum color with some bricking. Lovely nose with raisin, smoke, cured black olives. Sweet fruit notes, resolved tannins, medium structure. Nice as a weeknight experience of aged Nebbiolo.
