Community Tasting Notes 4

  • rosuoter Likes this wine:

February 5, 2021 - 13,5 %, 90 % Grenache, 10 % Syrah. Strawberry jam, red fruit, leather on the nose, smooth on the palate, nice balance, right acidity. Very elegant CdP.

April 7, 2018 - bottle from the list of the girl and the fig
    nose - strawberry, strawberry jam
mouth - touch confected but overall juicy and pleasing. ripe red fruits, easy to drink.

March 24, 2018 - Winebar [4 Whts, 8 Reds, + 6 Shared Bottles] from 3/23/18 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 80% Grenache, 17% Syrah, & 3% Mourvèdre [per Jancis Robinson]

N: I *quite* AGREE with a fellow taste: minestrone soup, with some vanilla as well?

P: Med body; Nice, ALMOST swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which evolves into a LONG, ult ALMOST swtish finish with notes of bitterness & very, VERY fine tannins with that initial swtness. For now with food, but could stand another yr easily, then handily making its 10th. My VG+, though likely more IF one takes into account this vendor's (close-out?) $24.95 is *$20* < than the next lowest of wine-searcher's LIMITED offerings! 90 pts WA, 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 15/20 La Revue du Vin de France, and 15/20 Gault & Millau.

August 9, 2017 - Dark bramble fruits and Provençal herbs characterize the nose and palate of this deep ruby, medium-bodied wine. Supported by fresh acidity, medium sweet tannins and nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it adds accents of black pepper and citrus. Dense in the middle and finishing with good length, this is a rustic, "traditional" Châteauneuf that will have many fans. I happen to be one of them. Drink now-2025.
