    April 1, 2024 - Still too early. Medium garnet colour. Classic tar and roses nose with some red fruit. Medium/full bodied. Lively acidity but still quite tannic. Long finish. Palate still feels young and needs time to develop. I’d wait a while before trying again.

    December 3, 2023 - Gorgeous nose of cherries, roses, red fruit. Little bit of earth. Gorgeous Palate. Internal balance of tannins that still have some bit but red fruits soften the touch. True cherry, little touch of leaves and tried character. It’s still early to drink this but it is phenomenal and should go another 20 years without problem. 95

    October 21, 2021 - Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis): I think we will finally be making a trek to visit Massolino after hearing good things for many years. Certainly the wine that we tried this weekend at the Wine Spectator event got me excited for our visit. It's a lovely, fresh, bright style of barolo.

    May 13, 2021 - Vigna Rionda is just magic everytime I drink it. For me, this is one of the quintessential expressions of Barolo. Very expressive parfumed with textbook aromas of roses, tar and cherries. The fruit is fighting with the balsamic and earthy notes for attention but at the same it comes together so flawlessly. Just beautiful! On the palate the tannins are tamed but still have a good bite. The purity of the fruit is just so good with a splash of mentol. Long aftertaste. Lets see how this bottle develops.

    March 7, 2021 - Too early. Lots of nice fruit on the palate and fairly developed nose. High acidity and still well present tannins tell me this one needs another 3-5 years. I would probably say 93-94 with extra time. My preference of course. If you like more fruit and more "bite" then the wine is very good at this point.
