November 7, 2020 - Grilled Strip Steaks with Wine (Princeton, NJ): Really an excellent wine although drinking somewhat young. Notes of red, black and blue fruits, tobacco leaf, licorice and tightly- wound tannins.
I picked it to pair with the blue cheese atop the 2 kinds of strip steak - and it did. It was great on its own, too.
Even better with 2-5 years of bottle age.

July 22, 2020 - This is really good in itself and off the charts on QPR. Dark wine that has a ton of structure and fruit. Kind of new world meets Northern Rhone. Wish I had more of this.

August 12, 2019 - Dark opaque, brooding color. Rich dark fruit, fragrant spices, mouth coating but not heavy. Some dark chocolate mixed in as well. Halcon wines are consistently good.
