  February 3, 2024 - This was a pleasure today. Red fruited, charming and subtle at first but benefitted from time in the decanter. Strawberry and rhubarb, with sassafras and a hint of cola. Good acidity and still some fine tannins hanging around but this feels like it’s on a plateau to me. Neither the length nor the complexity that should be present from the vineyard, but at the same time it is a delightful wine. Serve with a roasted bird.

  February 3, 2024 - Treat to have this. A bit lean and still showing some fine tannins—but has lovely tertiary fruit notes with tea leaves and forest floor. Really a complete mature burgundy—maybe just a bit past peak but still very enjoyable.

  November 18, 2023 - Quite lovely nose with notes of red cherries, underwood, red berries, a hint of mushrooms, and orange zest. Good acidity with more red fruit, forest notes, berries, and moss on the palate. Nice finish. Lovely wine that tastes quite a bit younger than 35 years. There’s still quite a bit of fruit and the tertiary flavors are just now starting to emerge.

  February 14, 2023 - Definitely on the back 9, but a wonderfully mature burg.
  Slight tawny edge and clear ruby color. Pnp, but in the end should have decanted. Evolving aroma with fruit leather cocoa along the way. Still some tannins, but fine grained.nice body and finish. Enjoyed with a reverse seared filet and twice baked potatoe on Valentine’s Day . Just perfect. Next and last bottle will be decanted - threw a nontrivial sediment.

I am not sure I could tell you this is Chapelle or any other Gevrey Grand Cru, which perhaps is important. This bottle was surely passed its best. Certainly doesn’t deliver real excitement. Better with food. Drink soon. A single bottle, bought on release.
  
  Better the next day - less sousbois/more fruit - suggesting perhaps a long decant. To my taste, markedly better - worthy of its Grand Cru status. Evidencing that whatever the right decanting regime is, these older wines are really impacted by it. But each wine is different - some improve and some do not - which I would rather were not the case.
