July 22, 2021 - Prior bottle was exactly a year ago and this wine showed as impressively as I'd hoped. Lots of blackberry notes on the nose (my handwritten notes actually said blackberry!) along with black cherry, light spices and minerals. Between medium and full bodied with rounded and expressive black cherry, coupled with brighter blackberry upfront. The blackberry was more prominent in this bottle than my prior one (bottle variation). The mid-body continues to show good depth with darker black cherry and plum. Backside shows earth, spices and minerals. Overall, the wine showed very good balance between fruit and structure and harmony between the deeper fruit notes and the contrasting tart notes. I don't see this wine improving with more time and while it can hold this level for a bit, I'd drink in the next 12 months or so to enjoy this level.

July 22, 2020 - Prior bottle was seven months ago but my notes were slightly different as this bottle was opened about 4.5 hours ahead of time. Nose showed more black cherry and plum notes as opposed to the bright blackberry previously. Medium bodied with rounder, more open black cherry upfront, with just some blackberry highlights. Mid-body showed real purity of blackfruit, especially black cherry. Fine grained tannins, lightly tart acidity and mineral notes through the backside and finish. Overall balance felt a bit better from my prior bottle (due to extended time open) and some of the more youthful, bright notes were more highlights. Clearly, this is holding up quite well with a good amount of time ahead of it. I will open my last bottle in June/July 2021.

December 29, 2019 - Bright blackberry and earthy notes on the nose. Medium bodied (14% ABV) with a combination of bright black cherry and blackberry upfront. Mid-body shows refined, elegant blackfruit notes with both high toned brightness and darker depth. Acidity and fine grained tannins worth quite well with the tart blackfruit notes on mineral qualities on the finish. Transition to the finish is very clean and shows good length. Showing really well at this point with the fruit retaining good brightness, the mid-body showing balance and a well integrated finish. Has the elements to last for a few additional years, but with only minor additional improvement possible. I will try my next bottle in either March or June 2020.

June 26, 2018 - Showing better than the previous bottle, this is worth seeking out as its so interesting. These premium bottlings in Alto Adige have so much quality. Its hard to compare this to anything. There is a lovely lively acidity but alongside a rigid spine of tannin that has started to open and yield

June 22, 2017 - Almost black in color, this is an interesting wine - medium to full-bodied, big and powerful in many ways but also has a racey spine of acidity running through which gives the wine a real liveliness. Will likely benefit from a bit more bottle age but is already showing great.
