January 12, 2021 - SLDS New Year #2: Licorice, cherry, menthol, blueberry and blackcurrant on the nose. The palate is fresh, with sweet fruit backing and with a good (but not overbearing) frame of tannins. Drinking really well right now.

April 12, 2020 - Curiosity killed the cat. I opened this knowing it was young and I really shouldn’t - but it was Easter and Coronavirus, so... the booze is still very alive with typical Clare Eucalyptus and Pine Sap notes, this being Wendouree the palate is never heavy or tiring and there’s good freshness to the whole thing but gosh it’s just 20 years too young to be gloriously mature and fully “giving” (as the bottle of 1990 Yards Yering Underhill served alongside was). Yet another reminder that you should just forget you own Wendouree and let your kids reap the rewards

September 20, 2015 - I think I opened this 10 years too early. This wine was like one of those Michael Heizer pits at Dia:Beacon. No matter how deep you think you've plumbed, your palate feels/knows there's more. The fruit is blue/red with subtle earth, herbs, and meat. But it's not the really heavy roasted meat notes like some aged Cornas can display. Rather, it's a faint hint of an animal being roasted on a spit somewhere really far off in the distance.

September 26, 2014 - (Magnum) Wow. Bit of a restrained nose but that's about the only bad thing I can say about this wine. Was opened a few hours prior, and the wine was lovely with tons of dark red fruits, a bit of "nail polish", some minty and olive notes and a fine veil of very well integrated tannins to give structure. Great length. Surprisingly fresh, probably due to the magnum volume, may have a few years in it but this wine was right in its peak, hands down best Wendouree I've had.

May 3, 2014 - Rare Wine Dinner - Australian Treasures: Out of magnum. Menthol, cedar, both black and red currant plus some pepper and spice. Didn't feel like this was unapproachable, there is plenty of tannic kick but there is a lot of fruit depth and intensity showing, as well as great drive and length. In a good spot but will improve for some time out of magnum.
