March 20, 2024 - immediately enjoyable upon opening. This bottle unfolded it's petals to reveal delicate fragrance of violets and subdued lavender, at around an hour from opening.

This is not a critical, forensic note, but one that expresses the impressions given, of passing enjoyment suited to the occasion. Simply: an enjoyable light but fulsome, enjoyable wine; fragrant and pleasing on the senses. Eases towards light, enjoyable graphite after 75 minutes to air - the air that has passed over sweet, dark, but not burned, toffee.

Always a reliable wine to enjoy. A joy.

    May 25, 2023 - 67% Cabernet Sauvignon
    23% Merlot
    10% Cabernet Franc

    Some development to the appearance.

Pretty aromatic character similar to the 2017 – perfumed graphite, a touch of toasty oak and an earthier vein, an impression of roasted stones, broadly rounder than ’17 and darker fruits with softer red notes and a hint of olive.

The palate shows greater density with a saline edge, ripe soft and mellow fruit to the core and the tannins are resolving. Stimulating and spicy, balanced and satisfying. Smoky on return. Stylish.

June 27, 2022 - Despite the modesty of the label: GPL’s second wine in the vastly underrated 2014 vintage - I honestly thought this was a belter. Very Pauillac. Plenty of precise fruit. Depth. Couldn’t ask for much more.

April 12, 2022 - Light and fresh wine, very drinkable. Good balance. Perfect for a middle week evening.

November 1, 2020 - Really a very good Pauillac. Nice fruit, graphite and cedar. Good grip. Very definitely drinkable now IMO.
