  November 11, 2019 - Bodegas Riojanas Rioja Monte Real Gran Reserva tasting (Boqueria Penn Quarter, Washington D.C.): Expressive nose displaying complex tertiary nose, sweet black fruit, black cherry, black plum, leather, damp cellar, sous bois, sweet spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, nicely layered subtle yet concentrated sweet black fruit, rich, round and silky, medium acidity and mineral, and a long sweet black fruit driven finish with damp cellar and leather at the end. I find this very similar to the 64 in style. Although drinking beautifully, no need to waite.

  May 5, 2019 - In a vertical of Monte Real Gran Reservas last week, from 1942 to 2011, this was the top wine, followed by the 1968. It all depends on the bottle at this age, but these were all direct from the winery cellars, so as good as you are likely to get. I didn’t take great notes, but it was rich, fresh and still young. Stunning.

  La boca es secante a tope. Me ha decepcionado. Un respecto para lo ancianos de todas formas.
