Community Tasting Notes 8

  • Swaggering Beaunie Likes this wine:

March 2, 2024 - Pleasant and well-balanced after a 4-hour decant and rebottling. If you have this one, drink it now, as I doubt much will be gained by further aging.

January 28, 2024 - Medium garnet with moderate bricking/ clearing at rim
Medium plus aromas of red berry/ plum with high toned dark florals and bitter tar notes
Medium bodied with palate of bright red cherry and dried/fresh herbaceousness
Medium plus fine and well integrated tannins with medium plus acidity and medium alcohol
Medium plus length led by fruit and tannins
Drinking well now - could hold but not seeing an improvement
Easy drinking but well made Barolo - great wine for price paid $30-40

  • dsamuel Likes this wine: 91 points

August 19, 2020 - Medium ruby with extensive bricking
Medium plus aromas of red fruit / rose/ strawberry and touch of cinnamon with mild VA
Medium plus palate of red fruit/ plum with wet earth
High tannins - fine grained and felt on teeth and gums
Medium plus acidity with great length and medium plus alcohol
This wine markedly improved next day in a corked bottle - tannins more integrated and fruit character more dominant
Would recommend holding 3-5 yrs but enjoyable now

January 1, 2019 - Pale ruby with extensive bricking. Medium aromas of cherry with underlying floral/violets - moderate VA noted. Medium (+) palate of cherry/ black cherry and tar with high tannins though fairly well integrated at this point. I find this quite enjoyable though somewhat one dimensional for a Barolo. May benefit from more bottle age, will open again in 3-4 yrs.
