September 14, 2022 - This has bold primary black cherry, asphalt and smoke. Pure and crystalline cherry fruit is still quite youthful with grainy tannin. Lots of fresh cut florals in the finish. Not quite ready as peak drinking is still 5+ years out.

May 23, 2020 - Cellaraid - Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Vertical; 5/15/2020-5/24/2020 (Delivered to Home): Deep, murky garnet core with browned fading edges, viscous and highly extracted. Nose of purple flowers and savoury stewed meat, even a slight hint of ginseng and blue cheese fungus. High alcohol heat, chewy tannins, and huge underlying power and blackberry intensity, with mint, pepper, paprika, cocoa, and charcuterie. Very long finish which still has a lot of remnant power, with mint and chocolate. A fabulous wine, and I think it’s at its best spot now

May 10, 2020 - Zoom blind tasting #3: Guiseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabaja vertical (At home): This was not bad, if a bit clumsier than some of the other vintages on show. The nose was superb, with a touch of glycerol in there, but also lovely notes of ripe dark cherries and damson plums, savoury earth and meat, and a little hint of spice and dried flowers drifting around as well. Really attractive. The palate was unfortunately a couple of steps behind that lovely nose, with a slightly disjointed chew of tannins and acidity framing fairly ripe flavours of red cherries and darker berries, earth and spice on a nimd-lengthed finish. This somehow felt a bit flatter and less light on its feet than say the 2004, 2005 and 2006 that we had earlier. Still fairly pleasant, but not fantastic. Not sure this will improve much with time too.

July 27, 2019 - browning considerably. cherry, leather and bloody meat in the nose. red stone fruit, leather, smoked meat, and a tangy finish with minimal tannins. probably mature. all bottles stored appropriately and identically--it's time to drink up, i believe.
