January 11, 2014 - WSET DIPLOMA TASTING NOTE

Wine: Prieuré De Cenac 2001 Chateau Saint Didier-Parnac

    Date of tasting: 11/01/2014

Appearance: The wine is bright and clear, with deep intensity of garnet colour and a paler rim. It has some deposit.

Nose: The nose is clean, it has medium + intensity aromas of violet and ripe black fruit such as blackcurrant and ripe red fruit as cassis and herbal notes of mints and maturity aromas of tobacco and wet leaves.

Palate: It is a dry wine, with medium acidity and medium + ripe and silky tannins, medium alcohol, medium + body and medium flavour of violet, mint, ripe blackcurrant and cassis, tobacco and wet leaves. It has medium + lenght.

Assesement of quality: It is a very good wine because it has balance between the delicate alcohol, body and acidity and it has a good concentration of aromas on the palate. It is also a very clear expression of Malbec from the Cahors region, with a medium level alcohol and concentreted colour.

Method of production: Pre-fermentazione a freddo e a caldo, con differenti temperature delle macerazioni appropriate ai differenti terroirs. Poi barrique bourguignonne.

Region of origin: Cahors in the Quercy district in south west France

    Predominant grape variety: Malbec

Readiness for drinking/potential for ageing: Drink now, probably at its best

    Approximate retail price: Mid Priced (£ 6 – £ 11,99 £)
