May 1, 2016 - With a nice core of licorice, black cherry, plum and earth, this deep ruby, medium-bodied wine shows that the Sangiovese grape is capable of performing well in California. Quite ripe yet freshly acidic, it throws no significant heat from its 14.1% alcohol and its medium-weight tannins are fine-grained. Solid in the middle and closing with a medium-length, tart finish, this is a "food wine" that screams for pizza or a tomato-based pasta dish. Enjoy it over the next five years. Drink now-2021.
