Community Tasting Notes 29

August 17, 2019 - The appearance is clear and deep gold in colour.

The nose is clean. The aromas have a medium intensity and show notes of bottle age (oil, toast, similar to an aged semillon). Swirling reveals notes of stone fruit (ripe nectarine), tropical fruit (honeydew, papaya), citrus fruit (lime, lemon), bottle age (subtle diluted honey), and mineral (crushed rocks). The wine is developing.

On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol, and medium(-) body. The flavours have a medium(+) intensity and show notes of citrus fruit (lime, orange, subtle mandarin), bottle age (oily texture, honey, bees wax), tropical fruit (honeydew), and green fruit (subtle yellow apple). The finish has a medium(+) length, showing additional note of citrus fruit (lemon).

This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are concentrated and have a great balance with the acidity and the alcohol. In its current state, the wine shows complexity with multiple clusters of primary and tertiary characteristics. The bottle-age notes added an unexpected layer of aromas and flavours that worked surprisingly well with the primary fruit. The finish was had a great length and featured some additional flavours that were not detected on the palate.

The wine drinks well now, but has potential for some further ageing (less than two years to be safe). The fruit concentration is good and the primary fruit is quite prominent. The acid structure remains robust and should support the wine as tertiary notes continue to develop.

June 21, 2017 - Smell is like light yellow straws and ripe pear. I found the taste a little acidly, but ok. Good finish.

June 4, 2017 - Acidic... with tropical notes. Great with Paella

May 13, 2017 - Served 50 deg. Cooler is better for this wine. Light golden with peachy nose. Smooth on palate, not much in mid palate but finish is slightly tannic with apricot skins.
