March 5, 2024 - Coravined bottle from 8 months ago. Still fresh and vibrant as of just freshly popped and poured. Lots of red ripe fruits and tannins were still present. Hints of cigar and leather but not a pronounced as the fruit flavors on the tongue. This wine was drank with food and about an hour after opening, really came into its own. Nice experience.

January 26, 2023 - Opened at the Upper House in HK. Bottle breathed for 3 hours, before deciding it needed a lot more air and flash-decanting for 45 mins and then serving.
Tried a small glass before decanting, and it was still an absolute monster. Hence the decision to quickly decant and have something easier in between. At that stage it was very primary, ripe black-fruit Cab Sauv with huge tannins.
After a quick decant and a German Pinot detour, it was much more approachable. Fruit-bomb on the nose, big and bold on the palate with good structure and acidity. Very good wine, but there wasn't too much complexity beyond these notes.
Perhaps this needs a bit more time. As with most of the wines tonight, I'd recommend revisiting in 3+ years. Potential upside, and will keep for a while. -

December 24, 2022 - This is a fine wine. Others tasting notes hit the highlights. It's the QPR that brings the score down. If this was ~$100 per bottle I'd sing some praises. Not so much for what I paid. I've found The Mascot far more interesting and a better value, even at around $150.

December 1, 2022 - Decanted 2.5 hours before service. In the glass, a trace of maroon at the rim, yielding immediately to inky, youthful purple. On the nose, currants, mocha, and a faint hint of cigar box. On the palate, a quick flash of creamy ripe Napa fruit before structured tannins clamp down on the party. Approachable now, if you must - that plush, ripe, spice-tinged fruit on the attack is definitely appealing - but at least another 5+ years seems advisable to soften up the tannins.

November 26, 2022 - Wow... to start with completely messed up as i thought i had grabbed an '05 and didnt realize it until after the cork was popped that it was a 13!! Oh well, a bit of baby killing!!
It was opened for a friends 58th, and only got a small taste of it and it was Gone!! everyone claimed it was the WOTN, and up against a few notable contenders, '16 Maybach M, -16 Outpost True, '97 Spottswood, and host of others to long to name....
With the little i did get to taste it, it still was relatively primary, but that was delicious black and purple fruit with some insane mouth enveloping tannins, a mid-length finish.. and beyond that, the night is a bit hazzy...
I will hold my last two for a long while, being that the few '05s ive had in the recent years are just amazing, so dont think will be drinking soon, and will try not to disturb for another 5+ years!!
