    April 20, 2024 - 3 hour decant

Stony, rich and pure. Quite a transparent color with beautiful tone and texture. Great length, young and polished tannins; really approachable and dynamic. Burgundian

February 28, 2024 - This is good. Deep and intense, earth and leather along with damson notes. Fruit not completely covering the bones here.. full bodied but slightly more austere than the 2010, big structure of course. Long and complex, drinking perfectly now.

May 20, 2023 - Sangiovese study, Volume II (Chicago, IL): There is a slight woodsiness to this that doesn't get in the way of the fruit. Probably more a symptom of youth than anything here. Again, classic crystalline red fruit from the estate with a bright, lifted profile. It doesn't seem to have as much palate weight here, so this is likely one that is better drinking on the relatively younger side.

April 28, 2022 - In the glass this has a vivid ruby core with a hint of bricking at the rim. The nose at the initial pour was all funk, manure, & healthy fresh earth. With time in the glass scents of dried red fruits, leather, & tobacco emerge. The palate Leads with tart cherry, strawberry, orange rind, & clove along a medium length finish. From a difficult yet not disastrous vintage, for a wine of this quality & pedigree to be this delicious and still holding structure that could allow this to improve a little within the next 4-8 years is why I love these wines. Outstanding!!
