January 22, 2024 - Decanted a few minutes before service - an hour would have been good. In the glass, dark opaque ruby at the rim, shading rapidly to near-black at the core. No visual signs of age. On the nose, currants and not much else, hard to sense any of the cedar or tobacco notes one might expect. On the palate, more forgiving than expected given the aromatics; dark blue and black fruit with some midpalate sweetness, with secondary notes of mint and graphite. Still, the tannins clamp down for a mouth-puckering, dry finish. I wouldn't bet on this making older bones.

October 16, 2023 - Dark ruby red; nose of menthol/wet iron, metallic character, not very strong, gives the impression of a much younger wine; fruit very tart, cranberry, unripe cherry like; finish is totally tannin, strong black tea.
    Too Bad.

April 29, 2023 - Fantastic needs about 45 minutes to open up. Chocolate covered cherries, cassis, dark fruit. For what I bought it for, awesome.

February 10, 2023 - Still a bit disjointed, but maybe starting to come together compared to last time. Fruit is less muted, but tertiary characters are struggling to emerge. A bit acidic. Again in a couple years.

Graphite, cedar , dried cherries. A food wine. Quite tasty. Very dry. Needs food

(Chateau La Bienfaisance) #2; BLIND; COLOR-medium dark; NOSE-good fruit; blackberry; hint of mulberry and kirsch royale; PALATE-good firm tannins; good structure on the back-end; a little hollow on the fruit; a tad oaked for me; comes across as a $12-$18 Merlot; a mix of Old and New world; solid; I like it overall; a little charcoal on the back-end; nice dark fruit; just a little one dimensional; guessing this is $18; RP-92; GV-88
