March 21, 2021 - Surprisingly fat and fruit laden. Nice typical Volnay nose. Robust full tannin, but soft-to be expected. Dark berry and plum, brown spice, decent length, still nice juicy acid on the finish. Held up well during an extended dinner. This wine was cellared well, but suffered transport from Colorado to Oregon with no apparent damage. A tribute to an older Burgundy really hanging on and showing its stuff.

August 29, 2007 - Out of the bottle/cellar muted and sharp. After an hour or so in the glass it really opened up showing lots of red fruits and earth. Had a very nice crisp acidic mouthfeel. Still plenty of stuffing. Village wine?

March 11, 2007 - Great burg nose of mushrooms, blackberries and spice. For a village wine, still quite youthful and full of fruit. On the palate lots of fruit complemented by a healthy dose of tannins. Wrapped up in a short tannic finish. This will continue to improve as the fruit and tannins have not resolved themselves yet. Not a lot of complexity, but more may come with further aging.

July 5, 2006 - From Joe Howe at the Squires BB:
Enjoyed tonight with grilled wild salmon, green peas, rice, and buffalo mozzarella salad. Color is a fairly youthful garnet purple. On the nose plenty of earth, cherries, and black raspberries with a touch of menthol. More mature on the palate with cranberries, dried cherries, earth, and plums. This is still pretty tannic with a somewhat short, dry finish, but overall a nice drink and very good with the meal. Not bad for a 13 year old village wine which was less than $20 on release.
