June 17, 2023 - What a phenomenal wine! Popped and poured earlier tonight, colder than lightly chilled. Intoxicating aromas that reminded me of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Abbaye de Morgeot Cuvee Clement & Emma 2017 (so yes, this Moutonne drinks like a Cote d'Or!) , except there is that baseline signature classic Chablis floral, nuttiness, sea shells, seashore, and lemon/lemon pith/lemon peel aromas, elegant but bright acidity. I don't think this needs a decant at all, as you get the best of all worlds right here and then. Too much oxidation and time, I think may cause the wine to become more sour (especially when the fruit fades). A very expressive and giving wine, and even better when matched with noble shellfish with rich sauce (lobster is fine but if there is Calabrian chili oil just for texture, it is not as great of a match, oddly). I have not tasted that many Chablis Grand Cru, but this easily ran circles amongst a few I've tasted (including Pinson Les Clos 2016, Fevre Clos 2004, Fevre Preuses 2015, Fever Bourgros Cote Bouguerot 201x). Sealed with a DIAM 30 cork that was in solid shape (reminds me of quite a few 2014 and after Fevre corks, but this one seemed thicker), despite the potentially dubious sourcing of the wine (got very lucky on this this time), the cork was in perfect shape also. Makes me want to hunt another bottle down if I am able!

    March 11, 2023 - (Semi-blind tasting, 2014 white Burg)
Medium-fullish, pure and lightly spicy nose. Yellow orchard fruit, hints of oyster shells and gravelly minerality.
Medium-fullish, elegant palate. Yellow apple and pear. Pure and still youthful. Hints of oak. Very good balance between malo notes and fruit. Long and fresh.
Drink now and in 10 years.

August 22, 2022 - Another wonderful bottle of 2014 Moutonne. Still youthful on nose and palate. Great depth, not super expressive on the nose, quite brooding. Very intense and detailed on the palate, layered, great acidity and impressive length. Very complete. Keep. 93-94+

July 29, 2021 - Great to taste this again after a couple of years of bottle age. Still rather youthful and muted at first, opening slowly in the glass. Lovely minerality, white and yellow fruit, slightly herbal, smoky. On the palate also pretty tight still. Powerful, structured, well integrated acidity, great concentration of fruit. Very intense, mineral, bright with impressive length. Keep. 93-94+
