February 10, 2017 - This took quite a bit of coaxing to strut its stuff. Had it been possible I would have opened it earlier. As it is, it got a few hours and a decant. Heavily inclined to the vintage's propensities for intense acidity and grainy tannins, it was at times challenging, unyielding and austere. But veal chops and buckwheat groats helped reveal some charming red fruit and expressive depth. Left too long in the glass, the acids dominated again. When shining this was definitely grand cru quality - not because it has it all but because of its intrigue that demanded another sip and caused regret when there was no more to be had.

June 27, 2010 - Easily one of the best Grand Cru Burgundies I have had to date. Beautiful depth and richness, but balanced and elegant at the same time with lovely toasty oak, spice box, game, and earth aromas nuanced by the faintest trace of blackberries far on the back end. A harmonious and firm wine with a finish that didn't let up. A beautiful wine.

September 11, 2007 - Medium ruby with a slight mahogany tinge. Nose is not big but is quite refined, with reticent plummy fruit, a touch of leafmould and earth. With a bit of air, the nose fills out with a nice cherry fruit on top. Mouth entry is pure and sweet, leading to a mid-palate with earthy cherry fruit and good acidity. Just medium bodied and with a good grip on a decent length finish.

July 15, 2006 - Vintage Pairs tasting :
Slight blood tinged ruby, touch of browning. Earthy cherry fruit on the nose. Lovely soft rich mouth with some bitterness behind. The complexity on the nose says Grand Cru, but it doesn't have the power in the mouth you'd expect to go with that.
