November 14, 2020 - This is a stunner for a 2011. Needs air, which fleshes out green bell pepper, milk chocolate and cool mountain berry aromas. The palate is so chewy in a great way for 2011, the density of fruit combined with the still slightly firm tannins foretells a long life ahead. Delicious now with a decant.

October 26, 2019 - Beautiful wine. It displays the best of Spring Mountain terroir and defies the off-year label of the cold, wet 2011 vintage. Rich, dense, powerful, and youthfully structured, with plump, textural layers of savory dark cherries, creme de cassis, melted licorice, tomato leaf, and perfectly integrated oak. It’s tremendously balanced and gorgeous with a two hour decant. Best of all it will make old bones. Worth every penny.

    August 26, 2018 - Tannis still prominent.
    Earthy and rich.
    Vermiculite.
Hopefully as tannins recede, berries/fruit will become more prominent.

November 3, 2016 - Wow! Evolving extremely fast or just a totally different bottle. This bottle was like a Bordeaux. Pencil lead, red fruit, barnyard, and loamy earth on the palate and nose. This wine has changed immensely over the last year. I'm very excited to see how it continues to evolve. If you have a bottle no reason to wait.

June 14, 2016 - Had a bottle six months ago. It was tight, closed, a lot of tannins.

Fast forward 6 months. Time has done this 2011 well! Really starting to open up. Lots of dark red fruit. Nice acidity. The tannins have calmed but are still present. Drinking well right now and should continue to improve for the next few years.
