April 4, 2024 - The wine was soft. There were little fruit flavors left it was oaky with some tobacco and pencil/

May 8, 2020 - Served with sausage and pasta in garlicky olive oil. Nice mellow fruit on nose and mouth, short finish but very enjoyable.

January 22, 2017 - The nose yields vanilla and a garden of roses, but a little barnyard funk that all works (I know, weird). This merlot has a really nice personality. The palette initially, yet fleetingly, gets a little brine, but quickly yields to the vanilla cream and ends with a dark sweetness, like molasses. It's an American Merlot, but a very imaginative and interesting quaff.

November 3, 2016 - We love James Cole wines, but this first attempt at a straight merlot is just OK. We tasted the 2013 Merlot at their release party recently and it's excellent. This 2012 is lacking something, it's pleasant enough to drink, but there's no wow there. Maybe another year or two of cellaring??
