October 17, 2022 - Very tannic and high acid. Needed to breathe. Much better the next night. Excellent.

November 2, 2021 - 100% Organic Aglianico. Decanted. Deep ruby. Med+ nose of black plum, black cherry, blueberry, dried herbs, stems, tar, leather, dark chocolate and oak spice. Aged in oak barrique. Med to med+ acidity, pronounced, polished tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). Full body, with med+ to pronounced flavor intensity and length and a pleasantly savory and balsamic finish. Made in a modern, international style, it is drinking well now but has the potential to go several more years.

November 1, 2020 - Italian lunch & blind tasting. Dark brooding, southern with plum, black fruit and some minty notes, you could guess GSM from Australia even. On the palate the Italian side comes in with lively acidity and strong tannins. Full throttle but nice wine, found a lot of friends at the table.

October 15, 2018 - Enjoyed with a traditional lasagna. Required extended breathing, but well worth the wait. When tasted on first opening, it was tight with pronounced tannins. After 2 hours, the wine really began to open up and show its character. After 4 hours, it was smooth and well balanced. The bouquet is a combination of cherry, leather, and a hint of tropical fruit. The taste mirrors the bouquet with the slight addition of some ground pepper. The long finish highlights the tannins and spice.

Best guess is that this will improve in the bottle for another few years allowing the flavors to blend more. But, with proper aeration this wine is delightful now.

April 8, 2017 - Opera Wine 2017 - 100 Great Producers (Verona, Italy): { OperaWine2017, Verona } In the past year, I've had the 2011 (not ready yet), and the 2001 (in a really great spot right now), so I was looking forward to tasting this, though I admit to going into it thinking it was still too young. And I was right, for my tastes, it's still too young, the wood a blurry film to the sweet, pure fruits just underneath. From what I can see, this merits a few bottles in the cellar, but with the up-front commitment that the wine needs another 4-5 years to begin to show all it has to offer. In a cold cellar, thru 2029. HOLD. recommended
