June 24, 2022 - Opened for 6-7 hours before serving.
A golden yellow showing its body.
Very elegant stone fruit, floral, peach, apricot and citrus in nose.
On palates, its complex with well integrated acidity, minerality, full body and subtle oaked favour. Very nice with superb finish. An above average Premier Cru from PM!
A bit early to open it, but already a ready one at 6 years old. -

May 22, 2021 - What elegance! What refinement! I see that I was effusive about this wine earlier this year. In effect it was ony a week ago. Is this to do with the relativisation of time a la Bergson, or am I going mad? Both are possible. Anyway - in vino sanitas.
My inclination not to like Chardonnay is here compeletly expugned by exemplary wine-making skills. One senses the investment of thought and the clarity of vision that has gone into this wine, which possesses a precision of structure and a noble freshness that is completely enguiling.
So, bien fait J.M. Boillot.
I think that is a "J" on the lable. The writing is a little ornate.

May 17, 2021 - I have decided not to go for a virus shot, but to stick with Boillot's Champs Canet instead.
I am not a Chardonnay lover: the market here in Australia was flooded in the 1980s by cheap Chardonnay: buttery and sweet: yuk. And my palate remembers this.
This wine, however, is quite different. I can recalimbrate the brain, and look behind the Chardonnay to see something different: stucture, purity of fruit, and consummate wine-making skills.
And once again, these skills seem to stretch from the Loire (and I have to say supermely in the Loire) to other parts of France.
Look after yourselves,
Martin. -

April 3, 2021 - Day 2, and there is greater depth now, but this is not the depth of sheer plenitude but the depth of structure (or perhaps "depth" and "structure" as discursive terms exclude one another, belong to a different reading of wine - I don't know).
I have over-chilled the wine somewhat, so at the moment some of the nuances of flavour (its fruit) aren't there . But as Hugh Johnson once said, if you are looking for fruit you will find it in the left-hand corner of your supermarket (pears were particularly cheap today).
The weight and texture of this wine is, however, exemplary. There is possibly a certain obdurate solidity about the wine but, as I have said, I am drinking it too soon - 2-3 years will see it grow in complexity, I'm sure.
The virus has raised its ugly head again in Brisbane, but thankfully no deaths. Even with vaccines, this may be a pest that we must live with forever.

April 2, 2021 - Yes, I agree with all of the below (although I had to take a dictionary out for Bernt). This is a truly fine wine, but I shouldn't be drinking it now: it needs a further 3-4 years more to rein in its opulence.
So, once again, with our points scoring system, we are faced with a conundrum. This wine is not at its best at the moment- I am finding it a little too full. It needs more acidity, and hence lacks a little in definition. So 93 points perhaps is really too generous. But I recognise its depth and quality.
Actually, that definition may come on the second day after its opening (a characteristic of top quality wines). So, I'll get back tomorrow.
