Community Tasting Notes 5

September 17, 2023 - Decanted 30min but would go longer next time. Rather dark fruit profile with fig and plum, but also red raspberries. Smoked bacon and uplifting floral high notes. Fresh palate with a fine, tannic structure. Maybe a tad rustic still and slightly green vegetal notes as drawbacks.

May 11, 2021 - First bottle from Millot and it was excellent; certainly way too young, but delicious alongside lamb chops; the nose was rich and dark, powerful and earthy, some floral notes with more air; the palate was powerful and ripe, but maintained excellent balance. Lots of upside here.

November 11, 2019 - 2014 - 2017 (Le Soufllot): Decanted. Unfortunately this is very shy and unexcited on the palate, pretty overwhelming by the whites. We decided to pour back the remaining 2/3 of the wine back to the bottle.

3 days later. Oh my, a real example of ugly duckling story. This is now such as pretty wine! Pretty complex aromas of blue fruits, sweet spices, earth, nail varnished (in a good way). Lot of wines here, juicy fruits, a touch of whole cluster inner perfume. Nice mouth coating intensity, firmed tannin. Not exactly elegant but still light on its foots, with restraint. Very good length and full mouthfeel.

January 11, 2016 - A bit more savoury on the nose compared to both the VR Village and Echézeaux, darker fruit, spices, smoky oak. Also a little more backward with firmer tannins, great balance and a complex, persistent finish. Excellent. 92-93+

November 5, 2015 - BORGOGNA NOVEMBRE 2015; 11/5/2015-11/7/2015: Barrel tasting at the domaine. Una marcia in più rispetto agli altri Grand Cru. Tattile e suadente, pieno e pulito. La maggior estrazione copre il rovere ed esplode nel finale minerale. Molto promettente.
