Community Tasting Notes 8

October 5, 2019 - Well this was underwhelming. The fruit's rather sour and thin and there's a surprising amount of oak that overwhelms it and adds a finishing bitterness. Not a fan of any of those things.

October 5, 2019 - Indianapolis V; 10/4/2019-10/5/2019 (Indianapolis, IN): A super disappointing showing of this wine; I love Sorrel's wines, but this bottle just never showed up to the party. The nose has a bit of coffee and seems generally pretty reticent; it's not terrible but there's not much to love here either. Pretty much the same story on the palate; a little blocky and inelegant. Just not really there, unfortunately.

November 16, 2012 - Beefy, tangy and earthy on the nose but missing on the midpalate. Can only be Hermitage with that iron-filings and bloody palate but right now needs more funk and feral character to be a great wine. Hold.

December 25, 2011 - Deeply coloured but bright garnet. Nose is rather shy and focused. Cherry fruit, damson, smoke and polished leather can be discerned along some vanilla notes. Very clean but closed. Palate of medium weight with nice fluid texture and clean finish. Wine has reached drinking window and is some way before full maturity. Beautiful overall with fantastic texture and mouthfeel but could have been more expressive.

March 15, 2011 - WineFanatic Northern Rhone Offline (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – medium red in colour. Riper nose of blackberries, cherries with some meaty notes underlying. Polished in the mouth with good acidity and rounded tannins. This suffered following the Ogier la Belle Helene. This needs time. Very good. 89+
